As our newest board member, Susan has taken the concept of volunteerism to the extreme! She is always educating the community about the services provided by VLI, as has even referred a business owner to our program.  In addition to serving on the VLI board, Susan volunteers with Five Acres and Hillside Manor as a mentor and tutor to abused children, coordinated a charity run for the ASPCA and is co-chair for the Hurst Ranch historical site.

John Weigand,
AeroJet Electronics Corporation (retired)

John is a parent who came to our Board after his son began receiving services at VLI in 1999.  He is very active with the agency, made the following statement about his experience:

“I feel blessed to have seen a wonderful growth in VLI during my tenure with this board.  In my first year, the board nominated Pamela Hayes as its CEO.  One of Pam’s first actions was to move the company to a more modern facility better suited for it operation.  The staff has become more professional and is now dedicated to do the very best  for each of their consumers.  Pam has transformed VLI from a financially marginal company to one of the most stable in the regions, if not state.”

The majority of her working life has been devoted to educating and providing vocational training and employment opportunities for those in Special Education.

As a business owner and active volunteer in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary,  Commander in the United States Power Squadron, and the Rotary Club of West Covina, Nancy is very involved in civic and service organizations.

“Under the leadership of Pamela Hayes, VLI has expanded the number of programs offered, increased the variety of services provided and has guided the financial affairs of VLI into growing and stable institution of service provision.”
